practical plan for doing so has yet been evolved, Thus the staff is expensive in proportion to the numbers; this is rendered necessary by the

number of the Classes. There are nine Class40

each at Kowloon and Victoria Schools, and five at

the Peak School. Six Assistant Mistresses are

needed at Kowloon School and Victoria School,

and the Peak School is sufficiently staffed.

This portion of the Estimates should then

appear as follows:-

STAFF FOR SCHOOLS TEACHING ENGLISH,

TO ENGLISH CHILDREN. (1)

2 3rd. Grade English Masters (2)

14 Assistant English Mistresses (3)

2 Passed Student Teachers. (4)

Notes.

(1) Formerly appearing in the Estimates under

Kowloon British School, Victoria British School and Peak School.

(2) Formerly appearing as Headmasters.

(3) Instead of 7 Assistant Mistresses, 2 Passed

Student Teachers and 2 Student Teachers: increase of 3.
